OUR HISTORY
Right Hand Auburn is a group of local businesses, nonprofits and faith-based organizations that have come together to address the needs of the homeless in our community. We are a nonprofit, 501C3 mutual benefit corporation with the charitable designation from the State of California.
While compassion for the poor is a strong motivator for us, we also recognize the need for finding positive ways to mitigate the impact that the unsheltered homeless have in our community.
Working with the Placer County, RHA acquired rights to use a barracks located in the DeWitt Center in Auburn, on an annual use permit. After a 90-day trial permit beginning June 1, 2015, the Shelter moved to providing services for two groups of homeless: full time services including case management on the "24/7" side of the shelter. Working with many County agencies and the 7th Day Adventists clinic, RHA also offers referral services for our Clients, and RHA coordinate access to government and charitable agencies that can provide for medical and dental, mental health and housing options, and initiate contact with the VA, HHS and Social Security on their behalf. In short, RHA's goal is to get homeless folks off the streets, fed, sheltered, back into permanent housing and employed.
